Chi Alpha, a Christian faith-based organization, mingled and shared the word of Christ with the student body on September 28th during common hour in the UC.
The event was based on reaching out to the LSUS community “with the truth of the Gospel or good news of Christ,” as Samuel Cooper, president of Chi Alpha, puts it over a fresh cup of a coffee and Dunkin Donuts.
Christ's message in short, as Cooper says, “God saves sinners who believe in Christ and repent of their sin.”
In an email, Cooper delivered his message of Christ he hopes to deliver to the students of LSU Shreveport.
“God became a man, Jesus Christ. He lived a perfect life and took our punishment on the cross and died. After 3 days, he rose again and is alive today. So, that all who believe in Christ and repent of their sins will be forgiven, ” Cooper said.
Cooper had an idea to attract students to the Chi Alpha meet, using what most people crave.
"We are your classmates and we all know the importance of caffeine and free food, so we thought that would be cool. Also, we know that there are students who would never come to bible study. We want to reach those people in a way that is meaningful to them," Cooper said.
Chi Alpha believed they can reach out to those on the LSUS campus through bible study, which is held every Friday during common hour in the UC Red River room. It is opened to all students who are very much interested in the word of Christ.
They had a successful turn out, many people came and interacted with the Chi Alpha members. The students also took home a lot of wristbands and cards with information about their bible study meetings that the organization was handing out, along with the free doughnuts and coffee.
