The LSU Shreveport Pilots baseball team are on pace to win the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC). The Pilots are sitting on a 15-5 overall record with a 2-1 record in the RRAC.
Pilots infielder Frankie Rodriguez is one of several pilots players with a red-hot start to the 2017 season. The Puerto Rican native is currently boasting an impressive .361 batting average and a .465 on-base percentage.
"I feel like we are playing good and have chemistry and great success from the pitchers and offensive side where we got good play from Trey Robledo," Rodriguez said.
In his inaugural season, Pilots head coach Bren Lavallee has the team focused on capturing their fifth conference title. 2014 marked the Pilots last conference title under former head coach Al Cantwell.
Although the Pilots' winning streak ended in the second game of a double-header against the University of Houston-Victoria by a score of 4-0. That was loss followed by a 16-8 loss against Southern Arkansas, sending the Pilots on the road with a two game losing streak.
