Miss LSUS 2019, Courtney Jackson, retired her crown, and Hailey Garrett became royalty and earned the title of Miss LSUS 2020 on Feb. 29.
Hailey Garrett is a sophomore and double-major. She is majoring in marketing with a concentration in advertising and design, and she is also majoring in management administration with a concentration in human resource management.
The Miss LSUS pageant opens opportunities for students to be a role model and representative of LSUS. Garrett said that she was truly shocked and honored when being named Miss LSUS. She also said that she is excited to be more active on campus and to encourage others to be more involved in the community while bettering herself as a whole.
“Being crowned to me means that I am now a part of something bigger than myself. I am no longer seen as just Hailey Garrett, but as Miss LSUS also,” Garrett said. “I have an opportunity to be involved in my community while representing the school I love.”
Garrett is embarking on a new journey and the student body is rooting for her. She said she has hopes and expectations for herself as Miss LSUS. “I hope to make others aware of all that LSUS has to offer,” Garrett said. “Most of all, I hope to make my fellow students, staff, and faculty proud.”
