Find a new Valentine

by Kaitlyn Gibson

We are inching our way closer to a holiday filled with adoration. It’s a holiday that you participate in joyously or try to steer away from. People are hugging, kissing, going out on fancy dates, and buying expensive gifts. Whether you enjoy all this holiday has to offer or sneer at the thought, this year can be different. Put aside all personal thoughts and focus on the children. It doesn’t matter if you have a valentine or not, because this year, and every year to come, you can have adorable mini valentines.

We take it for granted to be able to go to school, work, and anywhere else we want. Some people don’t have the option of doing what they want when they want. Thousands of children have had to adjust to the life of living in a hospital. This Valentine’s Day, we can make these kids’ days a little bit brighter. Hospitals all across the country are allowing you to send valentine cards to all their patients.

The process is simple, and I made it easier for all of you by searching through more than just the first page of Google results. Each of the hospitals will be listed and linked below. You get to choose a card design and type up a message before putting in your name and email address. The email address is only used to send a thank you email after completing the card submission.

They are all completely free* to send but some will ask for a donation afterwards. There are even two hospitals that have an outside company donating a dollar for every valentine sent. It only takes a few minutes to complete the short forms and put a smile on a kid’s face.

The next time you have a spare moment, click one of the links and make the day of a child that might be thousands of miles away.

*Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh requires a donation before sending.
