As of March 26, LSUS has completed its acquisition of the on campus apartment complex formerly known as the University Court Apartments.
The complex has since been formally renamed Pilots Pointe Apartments.
Before LSUS assumed full control, the apartments were managed by a private Australian company known as Campus Living. Negotiations had been going on since September so that the university could buy out the contract and take control.
According to LSUS Director of Media Wendell Riley, “The acquisition will allow LSUS to make much-needed improvements and repairs and create a new management structure that better aligns with the needs of LSUS students.”
This acquisition could not have been accomplished without the tireless efforts of our administration and staff.
LSUS Vice President for Business Affairs Barbie Cannon said, “We are extremely excited that we have completed the acquisition. There’s a lot of work to be done in the coming months, but having operational control means that we can begin to provide the best experience for our students living on campus.”
A company called RISE Real Estate will be involved in the day-to-day management of the apartments. Along with the LSUS Office of Business Affairs and the LSUS IT Department, RISE will begin to assess renovation and infrastructure needs. The LSUS Office of Student Services will also be working with RISE to start resident programming for the students who will be staying in these apartments.
Cannon said, “The RISE team has been amazing to work with leading up to the acquisition. Their expertise and professionalism in the planning phases points to a fruitful and student-focused partnership as we move forward with managing and upgrading the complex.”
The residents will be provided a tentative schedule of the upcoming renovations. There will also be daily updates on the changes to the facility on Pilots Pointe social media pages. For more information about the apartments, visit www.PilotsPointe.com.
Even in difficult times, LSUS continues to ensure that students have all the resources they need to be successful in and out of the classroom.
